Muppet Year in Review: 2014!

 It's just about the end of 2014, and what a year it was! 2014 had so much things going for the Muppets including the release of Muppets Most Wanted, guest appearances and promotions, countless YouTube videos. So, why don't we look at pretty much all the Muppet events that have happened this year!

January 1st: It's the new year!

January 12th: A new Muppets Most Wanted ad entitled " Outrage" shows up, to the delight of many Muppet fans!
January 16th: The Center of Puppetry Arts announces plans for a Jim Henson exhibit.

February 1st: Three new videos starring The Muppets and Terry Crews are made to promote the Toyota Highlander.


February 2nd: During the Super Bowl, a new commercial to promote the Highlander is shown and is an instant hit.

February 7th: Jimmy Fallon and The Muppets sing " The Weight" on the last episode of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
February 14th: John Henson, son of Jim and Jane Henson, sadly passes away of a heart attack.
February 15th: The Muppets team up with Subway to make a commercial with Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the Swedish Chef.
February 16th: Sesame Street releases a game that parodies " Flappy Bird" entitled " Flappy Bert." It's very addicting, and you should check it out!

February 24th: Rowlf the Dog and Rizzo the Rat get ice cream in another video to promote the Toyota Highlander.

February 26th: Kermit, Miss Piggy, and all sorts of Animals learn how to #bemoretea in this commercial for Lipton tea.
February 27th: The Muppets completely go against anything they stand for, and post selfies on Instagram.


March 1st: Miss Piggy and Joan Rivers fight and Rivers falls in a cake. This is probably the most interesting thing I've ever seen on QVC.

March 3rd: In a promotion for Muppets Most Wanted, Gonzo the Great appears on Jimmy Kimmel's show.

March 5th: In yet another promotion for Muppets Most Wanted, Sam the Eagle appears on Jimmy Kimmel's show.

March 10th: Miss Piggy launches a commercial for a supposed fashion line called " Moi". ( Still waiting for products.)


March 12th: The Muppets appear as interns in a YouTube video for BuzzFeed.
March 14th: The New York Times talks about Constantine.
March 16th: QVC has The Muppets appear in short little appearances all day and we see such rare Muppets as Link Hogthrob. TWICE!

March 17th: Kermit appears on The Tonight Show with Johnny... I mean, Jimmy Fallon.

March 19th: Bret McKenzie makes a video for Funny or Die where he sings " I'll Get You What You Want" from Muppets Most Wanted.
March 21st: MUPPETS MOST WANTED COMES OUT IN THEATERS! It's the 3rd best Muppet movie, in my opinion.
March 25th: Jim Henson's Creature Shop Challenge debuts on Syfy, to great success.
April 1st: The Muppet Mindset plays a fun April Fool's Day joke re-naming it The Constantine Mindset, with hilarious results!

April 3rd: Telly Monster appears in a YouTube video for Mashable.
April 25th: Doozers, a Fraggle Rock spin-off, is created by The Jim Henson Company and debuts on Hulu.
April 27th: I Am Big Bird: The Caroll Spinney Story has its world premiere.
May 13th: The Jim Henson Company ends on Syfy.

May 16th: Zachary Levi, Bert, and Grover appear in a video that has a meaningful message by Mashable.

May 23rd: CNN spotlights The Muppets in a TV special.

May 28th: Joan Ganz Cooney is honored with this beautiful tribute.
June 22nd: Sesame Street wins SIX Daytime Emmy Awards!

July 4th: Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, and Animal appear on PBS's annual A Capitol's Fourth.

July 11th: Bill Barretta directs another Lipton Tea Muppets ad.

July 26th: Eric Jacobson, David Rudman, Joey Mazzarino, Bert, Grover, Cookie Monster, and Murray all appeared at a panel for ComicCon.

August 1st: The first episode of an online series called Disney Drive-On with The Muppets debuts on Disney Movies Anywhere.

August 6th: Bob McGrath, Sesame Street actor, aged 82, jumps out of an airplane!
August 11th: Actor Robin Williams commits suicide and sadly dies.
August 12th: Muppets Most Wanted is released on Blu-Ray and DVD.

August 20th: In this hilarious video, Kermit the Frog does the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

August 22nd: Frank Oz is interviewed by In Confidence in this 43-minute-interview.

August 23rd: Constantine is seen in a meet-and-greet at Walt Disney World called Villains Unleashed!

August 29th: We finally get to see the bonus feature that was not included on the Muppets Most Wanted DVD called " In the Gulag."

September 2nd: A video featuring John Oliver and Cookie Monster is brought to us, courtesy of Mashable.

September 4th: Mashable brings us this video of Kermit lip-synching to his favorite songs.
September 4th: Joan Rivers, female stand-up comedian, sadly passes away.
September 8th: Sesame Workshop names Jeffery Dunn their new CEO.

September 10th: The Muppets appear on America's Got Talent!

September 12th: The Sesame Street Muppets take over Good Morning America and read tweets on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carso... I mean, Jimmy Fallon!
September 14th: Sesame Street debuts its 45th season! Way to go!
September 19th: The New York Public Library opens a Sesame Street 45th anniversary exhibit!
September 24th: It's Jim Henson's birthday!
October 2nd: Fran Brill retires from puppeteering on Sesame Street.
October 6th: The Musical Monsters of Turkey Hollow is available at bookstores.
October 6th: Funko will be making Sesame Street toys!
October 10th: The Jim Henson Company announces a movie collaboration with Billy Crystal.

October 10th: Grover and Kid President give us a pep talk in this sweet YouTube video.

October 16th: A 2nd video starring Kid President and Grover is available on YouTube!

October 17th: A video starring The Swedish Chef, Camilla, and Pepe is made!
October 20th: Gerry Parkes, the actor who played Doc on Fraggle Rock, sadly dies.

October 23rd: Yet, a third video starring Kid President and Grover is made!
October 27th: It's announced that Disney Junior will be airing Muppet interstitials in 2015!!!!
October 31st: Happy Halloween!
November 2nd: It's announced that Muppet-Vision-3D will be closed in Disneyland, California to make way for a new Frozen show.

November 6th: A video that is a promotion for the British version of Sesame Street, The Furchester Hotel, is made starring John Oliver and Cookie Monster.
November 6th: Richard Schaal, star of Jim Henson's The Cube, sadly dies.
November 10th: A set of The Merv Griffin Show is made, which includes the Merv Griffin Show episode with Jim Henson, Frank Oz, and their Muppets!
November 13th: Bob McGrath, from Sesame Street, gets a website, a Twitter, a Facebook, and more!
November 14th: The Furchester Hotel is available to people on YouTube!!!
November 20th: Elmo and Grover made an appearance with Russell Brand on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live, where Russell Brand threatened to destroy Elmo.
November 23rd: Steve Whitmire's Muppet collection is up for auction at the Center for Puppetry Arts!
December 2nd: Slimey the Worm, Rubber Duckie, and Super Grover's cape are announced to go to MARS on a special shuttle!
December 5th: Madame Alexander makes Kermit and Fozzie puppets!
December 10th: The Count makes a series of videos counting down the days until the Mormon Tabernacle Choir!

December 10th: Big Bird is seen in the YouTube Rewind 2014 video!
December 10th: It's announced by ToughPigs that the My Muppets Show app will be closed on January 9th, 2015.

December 17th: Sir Ian McKellen stars in a video with Cookie Monster!

December 18th: Miss Piggy singing with Michael Buble and Kermit the Frog singing " It Feels Like Christmas" are posted on YouTube!
December 22nd: Billie Whitelaw, the voice of The Dark Crystal's Aughra, dies.
December 25th: Merry Christmas, everyone!
December 30th: Christine Cavanaugh, the voice of The Jim Henson Company's Babe, sadly dies.
December 31st: Don't forget to watch the ball drop and Miss Piggy on A Toast to 2014!
